I'd say it's flawed, but maybe not fatally. Should we vote to do away with it we'd still have to count on the RF folks. If they're going to do anything, why not make some suggested improvements. Applauds, if implemented the right way, can encourage an environment more conducive to substantive/irenic discussion.

Totally agree. Actually AtheistForrums has a very good system. You could only applaud someone since the smites were disabled. And you were allowed to comment when you applauded them. You could also like a post.

I actually think people are playing a lot nicer now that it's in place.  How soon we forget all the crazy trolling waves that have gone through here.  I feel like things might be better now.  Or it could be totally anecdotal/subjective.  I dunno.
