I'm always reluctant to dismiss biblical content as either symbolism or literal - but never both.

If Jesus says...there once was a man who had two sons you had better believe He is telling the truth in more ways than one.

Atheism Plus is a manifestation of that "God-shaped hole@ we all have in our hearts. It's a recognition that true atheism 'deconstructs' something in our psyche - leaving a void.

True atheism strips us bare, leaving us soulless.

Nothing is sacred any more. (See David Tacey's book Gods and Diseases)

See how the real atheists repudiate their A+ bedfellows mocking the idea of 'spiritual' atheism. When Dawkins uses the term "Social Justice Warrior" he's using it derisively.

Since we're talking names: the next person that calls Wonderer "Wanderer" is going to get a talking to.

Since we're talking names, I don't think "wonderer" uses an upper case 'W'

...I'm just saying is all

It's a compliment to the Forum Moderation team and community standards of behavior that there's not much else to do apart from tidying up typos.

It all started with calomie88 back in June 2011. Then Keith, then Kravarnik. Then PCH did it
...no wait! That post was directed at a forum member who was actually named "Wanderer".

I've never heard of Atheism+ before today. Does Atheism+ have any horsemen horsepersons?

Fixed your post.

...or we could just keep squabbling about how to keep the other kids out of our sandbox.

The only reason I included the AO in the original thread is because I don't see how a Christian (or non-atheist of any stripe) could possibly have answered the question.  I don't really care if the theists want to say something in the thread.  I could have left it open, but it's directed to atheists so I thought the designation was fitting....

I don't think there should be 'Christians Only' threads.
There should just be "substantive and irenic" threads.
Same goes for any other form of 'apartheid' limitations on free speech.

If your thread is about a specific topic and you are primarily interested in the views of people who think "x" then just politely say so in the OP. And if some non-theist feels they have a worthwhile contribution, let them politely have their say.

It will either be on-topic or it won't.

IOW - Use the report button and let the Mods help keep threads ON TOPIC.

It took us three attempts but we finally got there - an unsegregated discussion thread.

...Again, Lion, I am not talking to you.

When you say...I'm not talking to you, you actually are talking to me.

... The XO/AO designation was designed so that discussions could occur that we not derailed by the kind of antagonistic behaviour currently being modelled by Lion.

You make it sound as if someone gate-crashed YOUR peanut gallery thread.

You've got nothing to whine about.

Now with peanut poll for added intensity.

Hey Crash Test, how about you take some of that passive-aggressive energy and all that spare time you use lecturing others about the "spirit" of the forum and use it to make some posts in this unrestricted thread from which your presence is conspicuously absent.

I'm not lecturing anyone.

Then prove it. And stop talking.

...A number of board members agreed to mutually respect a system,

I never agreed to it. Let those who want to retain segregation do so.
As for me....nope.

I would no more respect a thread which was labelled "whites only".

...a system which you are abusing.

I can assure you, that if I wanted to 'abuse' the system it would get trashed a lot more than anything you've seen so far.

...I'm asking the board members who originally agreed on the system how we should deal with that.

I'm not part of your system. Deal with THAT.

I think the thread was mean-spirited.

I think it is mean-spirited of you to say so.
