Pre-Incarnation Consciousness

Was God the Son still self aware while entering into the world knowing who he was? In other words, God is not limited by his creation because he entered into it. However, was the second person of the trinity's consciousness changed or altered when he took on flesh?

The Incarnation plays a deep game, subtly aware of Himself at all times but also supporting various mental modes in order to interact with the creatures around Him. Anyone can point out Jesus was a fool to expose Himself to those who would clearly kill Him, but certain things needed to be proved about human nature, as well as the Lord’s capacity to endure sorrow. In general anyone approaching the Incarnation thinking himself to be more aware, is in for a surprise. The Lord’s games have been among the ignorant so far, where virtue is fatal and laughter a curse. The wise have avoided Him.
