Health of the body politic

When you pass a bloody stool, you don’t worry about the stool but the human body it came from. Is the body diseased? After we’ve passed Trump, we need to worry about America’s body politic. How, in God’s name, did this happen to the United States of America?

Art, I forget who said it first, but I find it to be 100% accurate: “Trump is the symptom, not the disease.”  What’s happening in the U.S. has been bubbling just behind the surface for a while now, steadily making its way towards the cracks. What Trump did was to widen the cracks at a faster rate. But this eruption was eventually going to happen regardless of which conservative POTUS was in office.

Agree but I suspect the country Trump openly asked for help to win the election (“Russia, if you’re listening .  . . Hilary’s emails) may be covertly aggravating the situation.
