The UK's Highest-Ranking Evangelical Politician Steps Down

Tim Farron, an evangelical Christian, has stepped down as leader of the progressive UK political party the Liberal Democrats citing his Christian faith.  Farron had come under increasing pressure regarding his position on homosexuality.  During his resignation speech Farron stated: “to be a political leader—especially of a progressive, liberal party in 2017—and to live as a committed Christian, to hold faithfully to the Bible’s teaching, has felt impossible for me.”
