#971 Why So Few Testimonials from Women?

December 21, 2025
Q

I looked at the names of the testimonies you posted. Don't women respond to you or do you not post their testimonies?

What is your position on women in ministry? I could not find the information in your statement of faith.

The answer to your question, Carolyn, is clear: women do not respond to me—or should I say, to my material? If you look, for example, at the analytics for our ReasonableFaithOrg YouTube channel, you find that 91.5% of our viewers are male; our DrCraigVideos channel has an audience that is 86.4% male. So while we are eager to post testimonials from women, we just do not receive as many as we do from men.

I think that our strongly rational approach to Christian faith does not resonate as strongly with women as it does with men. We find that the people who most greatly appreciate our material tend to be engineers.

I am not trying to tailor my material to be more appealing to women but am defending the truth as I see it and letting the chips fall where they may. I don’t think that our predominant appeal to men is a bad thing, given how feminized and matriarchal the American church has become. We desperately need ministries that will draw men into our churches.

Concerning the role of women in ministry, I should say on the basis of Paul’s teaching in I Timothy 2.12 that in the context of the local church, women should not be in a position of teaching doctrine to men, but they may of course be involved in a multitude of other ministries.
